Things we learned as a team
Things we learned individually
Our proudest moments
Our scrimmage made it to the FIRST calendar!
Successfully switching to EV3
Our project prototype is functional
Working together through tough times
Persisting to solve problems
Experimenting extensively with different types of wiring and connections to get our project prototype circuit to work
Staying on track despite having to switch to EV3 after spending many months trying to get the SPIKE Prime to work
Not giving up on our overall goals despite many setbacks, including coaches and other members getting COVID-19
Using creativity to solve problems
Using a laser cutter to accurately and efficiently cut out materials for our project prototype
Keeping multiple robot batteries and swapping them out when one runs out so that we could work for longer amounts of time
Using an activity log form to track time spent and what was done during each working session.
Throughout the RePlay season, we ran biweekly Coopertition meetings for 8 teams from MA and RI in partnership with Team Unlimited (FTC 0001)
From the coach of Planet Robotics (FLL 37524): "I have high praise for the Tech Tigers! We had a lot of fun and learned a lot of cool facts and walked away inspired by the work other teams are putting in. I was deeply impressed by the core values displayed by everyone, and the whole event being moderated by kids."
This year, teams were missing interactions with one another, so...
We organized a Virtual Robot Scrimmage for 30 teams from the US (MA & RI), Mexico, Singapore, and India
From the coach of the Bolton Robotics Chilly Bots (FLL 27042): "Thank you for organizing the virtual FLL scrimmage, I am so happy to see that someone is taking on this large task this year."
Our April Break camps are a big hit! 26 students (grades 4-7) from 8 schools across 2 towns learned how to create websites and take on Scratch and Python challenges.
We are thankful to Sharon Community Education and Franklin Public Library for supporting and promoting our events!
STEM is a big part of our families, and we are always getting questions from our siblings, cousins and friends
They ask how the robot is doing, what our project is and want to learn how to code
Our neighbors always want to know about our tournaments and outreach activities
Every team member has their strengths!
And finally, our newest teammate, Avaneesh
We got to...
Know him better
Teach him new skills like using micropython
Introduce him to our team processes
Include him as a member of the team
Learn from what worked well in his old team
Resolving differences of opinion
Two team members had a difference of opinion during a SYRA planning meeting, so we spent some time as a team discussing it and agreed to use some of our decision making strategies in the future
During a team break, some team members wanted to play football, while some wanted to play basketball, so we respected everybody's wishes by playing football first and playing basketball during the next break
Different people on the team had different ideas on how to solve some missions, so we prototyped all ideas and finalized the ones that worked best after testing them
Team Goals
✅ Attempt ALL missions and maximize score
✅ Finish strong in our last year of FLL and advance past State
✅ Create a full working prototype for our solution
✅ Everyone must try everything ... learning is one of our goals!
✅ Improving our team organization and time management
✅ Have fun!
Communication and Subteams
We are an energetic, food-loving STEM team...
Clementines! Jalapeno chips! Popcorn! Fudge! You name it, we eat it!
Lagori! Football! Among Us! Werewolf! We love playing together, during breaks or outside of FLL!
Halloween! Christmas Yankee Swap! Birthdays! Taco Nights! Team Lunches!
Field trip to the exercise trail in our town to get solution inspiration (and eat snacks)
We cheered and danced when something worked, and shared our accomplishments with the team and parents over WhatsApp
...Because things go wrong sometimes!
